Sherwood Community Festival is run by a dedicated committee of volunteers. With a diverse range of ages, “day jobs”, and backgrounds, they bring enthusiasm and a can-do attitude that shine through the event. As the saying goes; “Many hands make light work,” and this is so true for us. Our team commit as little or as much as they like/can/want to, which may be a few hours a week, or one hour at the event. The more the merrier we say!
We are a registered Not-For-Profit Association that runs entirely off donations and sponsorship. We are extremely grateful to have the backing of Brisbane City Council as well as a number of local representatives and businesses who offer their generous and ongoing support. Costs are rising so if you want to contribute. Check out our sponsorship page for more information.
Sherwood Community Festival started in 1995 when a group of local business owners wanted to ensure that people still came to the Sherwood Road as the banks started to close. They organised a pavement event and since then, SCF has evolved through a significant street festival with road closures, to its current iteration at Sherwood Arboretum.
SCF’s aims are to support local business, and bring the community together to celebrate our wonderful neighbourhood. We are a connection point for our community, and provide a platform to showcase local wares, talent, students, entrepreneurs, groups, and more. We curate an event that educates to encourage 4075 to be the best in Brisbane!
