Did you know that volunteers run the Sherwood Community Festival?
That's right! We all live or work locally and are interested in improving our community. Our Sherwood Community Festival committee volunteers time and skills to ensure our Festival is a success every year. Thanks to the persistence and dedication of our committee, currently led by the fabulous Sophie, we are still able to celebrate our community almost 30 years later.
Sophie has now been president of the Sherwood Community Festival for three years! What an interesting ride it has been, thanks to Covid. She was a live events technician in music and theatre for many years. When Sophie is not working, she loves to spend time with her husband and adorable dogs.
Sammie has lived in the area for several years and loves the community spirit of Sherwood. Her favourite part of the Festival is seeing old friends run into each other and enjoying catching up on years past.
You may recognise Robyn as she has previously performed at the Sherwood Community Festival with her fantastic business, Firefly Entertainers. She loves working with our committee and can't wait to celebrate the Festival with her friends and family.
Brett has been attending the Sherwood Festival since he moved to Sherwood in 2009. Since then, his family has grown, and this year he'll be joined by his daughter Grace and her little brother Leo. When Brett is not using his software development skills to revamp our website, he sings with the Ignite Choir performing in City Hall this November!
Maddy is a recent university graduate, and she finds the passion of the committee inspiring. Maddy is especially proud of how we have been able to embody the spirit of the traditional Sherwood Community Festival in a new format post-Covid.
Jim rejoined the committee as our treasurer this year when we desperately needed more volunteers. We are so grateful to have him back, as he has played a huge role in the Sherwood Community Festival's continued success.
Finally, we value our general Committee member Joseph. He has been a dedicated member for years. He has been an enormous help, particularly as the committee has changed over the past few years.
